SUPPLY CHAIN DISRUPTIONS
LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT
Dear customer,
You may have noticed we’ve been out of stock online on some of your favourite products over the last few months. Kinnikinnick, like most manufacturers is facing supply chain issues on products and freight distribution challenges and surcharges.
The problem with supply chain issues, is we find out only when we order that either the supplier is out of stock, or the product price has gone up exponentially, or the most difficult, the product has been completely discontinued or re-formulated.
Switching out a product in a delicately balanced baking recipe is no easy feat. Product development usually takes months to perfect a recipe. Even when you’ve perfected the recipe in the test kitchen, it needs to be scaled up to manufacture large quantities. Baking is an art and science so everything has to be controlled just right from ingredients to humidity to bake and cool times. It’s complicated.
That just about sums up what’s been happening behind the scenes in our bakery, switching out ingredients, revamping recipes while keeping up the highest quality of safe and scrumptious gluten-free, breads, baking mixes and sweet treats.
On top of that, due to sky rocketing freight charges some of our major distribution routes are in flux, so you may have noticed some products no longer on shelves. We’re working on getting everything back to pre-pandemic levels as fast as we can.
We are doing all we can to make sure we can fulfil your orders, always. Over the next while, as things normalize, it may be prudent to over-order while products are in stock so you don’t run out. Shelf life is about a year for cookies and mixes, eight months for frozen.
As always Kinnikinnick is committed to our motto, the Best Things in Life Are Free From gluten and top allergens. Letting you know what’s happening is part of our promise to you. We’ll keep you updated as things change.
Please email any further questions.
We sincerely thank you for being part of our gluten-free family.
